Nineteen year old pianist Marika Bournaki is quickly emerging as
an exciting young artist with an extraordinarily engaging musicianship;
as one critic noted, “her playing exudes passion.” Recent engagements have
included Grieg’s A minor Concerto with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra,
a National Arts Centre performance in Ottawa in the Debut Recital series, the Flanders Festival in Belgium and the Konzert Accordate Series in Aachen, Germany. In 2009 Marika was soloist in the Schumann Piano Concerto with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra at the Palaces of St. Petersburg Symphony Festival in Russia. Last season’s highlights include Chamber Music Northwest in Portland, Oregon on N.P.R.’s “From the Top,” a sold-out fundraising recital for the Glenn Gould Foundation at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall and a performance on opening night of the illustrious Luminato Festival in Toronto.
