It has regularly served several cities in northwest Germany, toured internationally and recorded unusual repertory. Since 2010 the conductor is Eugene Tzigane, an American conductor born in Tokyo. Tzigane studied at the Juilliard School and graduated with a Master of Music in orchestral conducting. He later studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
