JANUARY 10, 2009

POP GO THE CLASSICS - Classical Music with a twist of Pop, starring Mac Frampton and the Three Penny Symphony – piano, acoustic bass, drums, percussion, keyboard and trumpet. POP GO THE CLASSICS showcases celebrated pianist and arranger Mac Frampton, accompanied by The Three Penny Symphony, in a production that merges his conservatory training with his mastery of the pop and jazz idioms, bringing to the stage fresh and original interpretations of revered classical works. Experience Johann Sebastian Bach performed as if he were alive and well and living in Greenwich Village, Chopin from the setting of a cool jazz club and, of course, George Gershwin. It's classical music with a twist of pop. Mac Frampton has assembled a worldclass ensemble of six musicians trained in the classics that has bridged the gap to the pop arena and combines these parallel passions for an unforgettable musical experience.

ROMANTIC PIANO
THOMAS PANDOLFI

SATURDAY - 8:00PM
FEBRUARY 14, 2009

American Pianist Thomas Pandolfi is emerging as a prodigious virtuoso who excels in reviving the core of the golden age of the piano. Praised for his interesting and innovative programming, the young pianist’s career has already included performances with such European orchestras as The George Enescu Philharmonic, The Moravian Philharmonic and the National Philharmonic of the Republic of Moldova, as well as a number of American symphony orchestras. Following a performance of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.2 with the Asheville Symphony, the Asheville Citizen-Times remarked: “Pandolfi is a standout among today’s young pianists, demonstrating a great technician’s grace, finesse and polish; his virtuosity and strength might have had some believing that Liszt himself had taken over the keyboard.”
